OLD THINGS

SINGER MACHINE AFTER - STILL NEEDS SOME WORK THOUGH

This weekend my brother visited us.  We went to his old house and brought home a few things.  I found this old Singer sewing machine on a porch covered in dirt and rust.  When we have time I want to go back and get the cabinet that it went in.

THIS TREASURE HAS SEEN BETTER DAYS

I tried to clean it as carefully as I could.  It had a lot of rust, spider webs and dirt in and on it.  I didn’t want to remove any of the original paint if possible.  I used a stiff bristle brush for painting on it, a can of spray air and lots of WD40 with a cloth and scrubby.  You can tell that when this machine was new it was pretty spectacular with designs all over it.

I plan on using it as a display, unless someone wants to purchase it.  My sister and I will be opening a small shop in a few months, weather permitting.  We have a lot to do before we can though.  The old house has a lot of damage.  We plan on tearing down the addition to the house, which is the kitchen and a bedroom.  That will leave the living room and a bedroom.  Hopefully the materials salvaged from the addition will be enough to repair the original house.  There is a lot of work to do though.

THIS IS OUTSIDE. SEE THE WEBS. IMAGINE THE INSIDE .... IN THE WALLS AND CEILING. EEK.

Did I ever tell you about my extreme fear of all things creepy crawly?  Well it is there. That is why I wanted to start demolition and construction in the Winter.  However, all the rain has kept that from happening.   We also have it packed full of boxes.

ONE VIEW OF A SUPER PACKED HOUSE

We also brought home other things from my brother’s old house.  I got a bunch of old quilting and craft books, a very cute table/shelf and other things I will show you later.  Here is an old military bag that I plan on cleaning up and hanging on a wall with some sort of greenery to enhance it.

TABLE/SHELF WILL LOOK SO CUTE IN RETRO COLORS

Sorry for the poor picture.  It was really dark in the house yesterday.  The sun poked its head out early yesterday but stayed hidden behind the clouds the rest of the day.

There is so much work to be done.  So many projects to work on.  I will post them as I can.
