I just love a brick patio. There is something about it that just says old world to me. I find it tranquil and peaceful. Yes. A brick patio does that for me. Brick versus concrete. No contest.
Our first batch of bricks were bought. We got very old bricks that are solid and have writing on them. They are beautiful. We ended up getting the rest of the bricks for free. Now that is the best way to do get things. FREE. How is that for recycling and repurposing.
My sister has a really good friend whose family builds houses. The bricks we got were leftovers and could not be returned. They are new bricks and very beautiful. Some were broken which is not a problem for us.
The brick patio is still a work in progress but it is coming along. Once the weather is a little warmer I will be continuing with the patio and looking for more bricks to keep it going. I envision brick walkways. Sigh.
This is our patio that is not yet complete.
You can see the retaining wall bricks in the above photo. What a score. A lady in West Monroe was having her backyard landscaped to include a pool and needed to get rid of these. We got them for 1.00 a piece. We also scored large paving stones from her as well. They are in the shot below. They are temporarily placed in the brick patio area to keep us from tracking in mud. Eventually they will be moved to walkways about the property.
The photo below is the fireplace on the old house that will be torn down. Hopefully the bricks from the fireplace and the others we still have left will be enough to finish the patio. If not we will be scoping out other sources for free brick.

I’ve recently been an avid fan of your web site for a while and not truly offered anything at all back, I am hoping to improve that later on with an increase of dialogue. Thanks for another new inclusion towards the website.

@Olene Tharp, I am sorry. I really don’t know how to do all that stuff. I wish I could help.
